A Note From Geoff Walden
March 2002

CORRECTIONS AND ADDITIONS TO THE BLUE & GRAY ARTICLE, 2002:

Part I, Table of Opposing Forces

Add to Federal forces - 13th U.S. Infantry (1 battalion), Lt.Col. Sidney Burbank

Part IV, Battery Listing

Battery Holt - post-1986 housing construction has all but obliterated this site and the battery position.

Battery Phil Kearny - The source used for the editor's note was in error - original maps and reports in the National Archives confirm that the "Beech Woods Battery" was the position later named for Phil Kearny, and not a separate position near Battery McLean.

General's Tour

Tour Stop 6 - You can now drive to the site of Battery Holt, but there is almost nothing left to see there. The once-pristine earthworks and magazine fell victim to housing construction.

Tour Stop 7 - The note about the Groesbeck Batteries being located at the future site of the Beverly Hills Club was inserted by the editor. Actually, that site was on a neighboring ridgeline, one that did not have a battery position in the 1860s.
